A Comprehensive Overview of the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics
Hello, I’m Oklahoma City business attorney Dillan Savage of Wirth Law Office, and I practice primarily in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma area. Today we are going to do a very broad view of the Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics—specifically, the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics.
You can find more about this department in Title III. Today we are going to specifically focus on Title III, Section 85, which has versions 1, 2, and 3.
Responsibilities and Functions of the Department
So, this department, as you might imagine, has quite a few responsibilities, considering they essentially govern what happens in the air in the state of Oklahoma. They’re going to interact with federal agencies, including funding and other programs that might occur in the state of Oklahoma. They are there to encourage, foster, and assist aerospace programs within the state, including organizing and administering education programs regarding aerospace.
If it happens to be an emergency, they are going to help with aeronautical matters related to those emergencies. They can help establish air markers or actually establish them themselves. They also can go forward and purchase and install road signs leading individuals to actual airports. Again, they have quite the broad spectrum of things that they are required to do. It’s not just within the state, but it’s also interacting with federal agencies as well.
Scope of Authority
So, if it has something to do with the airways within the state of Oklahoma—so again, aerospace and/or aeronautics—then that department is going to handle it. Their role is pivotal in ensuring safety, efficiency, and excellence in aerospace operations within the state.
